How to Get Your Anthropic API Key: A Step-by-Step Guide
Integrating Anthropic into your app starts with getting your own API key from Anthropic. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of obtaining your Anthropic API key and explain how to use it to leverage the full potential of AI in your application.

What is a Anthropic API Key?
A Anthropic API key is used to access Anthropic’s AI models, such as Sonnet and Opus. This unique key allows your app to communicate directly with these AI services, bypassing third-party intermediaries, and offering you more flexibility and control over usage and costs.

Step 1: Create an Account on the Anthropic Website
To get started, visit the Anthropic website and look for the "Start Building" button. Clicking this will guide you through setting up an account. If you already have an Anthropic account, simply log in.

Step 2: Access Your API Dashboard
After signing in, navigate to the API Dashboard within your account. This is where you’ll manage everything related to your API usage, from billing to generating API keys.

Step 3: Generate a New API Key
Within the API Keys section, you’ll see a list of existing keys (if any). To create a new one, click the **"+ Create Key"**button.

You’ll be prompted to name the new API key. Choose a descriptive name that reflects its intended use, such as the project or app you’ll integrate it with. Once named, click "Create Key" to generate the key.

Step 4: Secure Your API Key
Once your API key is generated, it will be displayed as a long string of characters. Be sure to copy and store this key securely, as you won’t be able to view it again after this point. Using a password manager or a secure storage solution is a good option. However, if you forget or lose it, don’t worry—you can always generate a new one whenever needed.

Step 5: Add Your Anthropic API Key to Superinterface workspace
Once you’ve saved your Anthropic API key, the next step is to integrate it into your Superinterface workspace. Start by heading to your Superinterface dashboard. In the left-hand menu, navigate to the AI Providers section where you’ll see a list of supported providers. Look for Anthropic and click the Edit button next to it.

A prompt will appear asking for your API key. Paste the key you saved earlier into the designated field and save your changes. Once saved, your workspace will be connected to Anthropic, allowing you to utilize its AI models for various tasks, such as natural language processing and text generation. You can update or replace the key at any time by revisiting this section of the dashboard.

Managing Anthropic's Billing and Usage
You can monitor your API usage and costs directly from the Anthropic dashboard under Plans & Billing. This will help you keep track of your consumption and ensure you’re managing costs effectively.
Deleting or Disabling an API Key
If you need to disable or delete your Anthropic API key, head to the API Keys section, locate the key you wish to remove, and click the three dots next to it. You’ll see options to disable or delete the key permanently.
